750,000 tickets sold in the first phase of the London 2012 Olympic tickets second chance sales

Over 750,000 Olympic tickets have been sold to nearly 150,000 successful applicants in phase one of the ‘second chance’ sales round, which closed at 6pm on Sunday 3 July.
Phase one was open to applicants who did not receive any tickets in the first round sale between 15th March and 26th April.

In total, over 3.5 million Olympic tickets have now been sold, and around 850,000 successful applications have been made for tickets.

The second phase of the second chance sale is open to the 700,000 applicants who were successful in all or part of their ticket applications in the first round sale. It will open on 8th July at 6 am and close on 17th July at 6pm.

Only football, volleyball and wrestling (freestyle) tickets remain. All other sports have no availability.

Around 1.5 million football tickets remain for mens and womens matches at Wembley Stadium, City of Coventry Stadium, Millenium Stadium, Hampden Park, St James Park and Old Trafford.

Around 40,000 volleyball tickets are available for mens and womens volleyball sessions at Earls Court.

Around 8,000 wrestling (freestyle) tickets are available for sessions at ExCeL.

Over 130 price categories across 58 sessions are still available.

LOCOG Commercial Director Chris Townsend commented: ‘We now have at least 150,000 more successful applicants – and they and their friends and families are now going to the Games. Our goal is to get as many members of the British public to the Games as possible, and we have sold over 750,000 tickets to people who were unsuccessful in the first round.’

As it heads towards its £2bn budget for staging the Olympic and Paralympic Games, LOCOG has seven domestic Tier One Partners – adidas, BMW, BP, British Airways, BT, EDF and Lloyds TSB. There are seven domestic Tier Two Supporters – Adecco, ArcelorMittal, Cadbury, Cisco, Deloitte, Thomas Cook and UPS. There are now twenty-five domestic Tier Three Suppliers and Providers – Aggreko, Airwave, Atkins, Boston Consulting Group, CBS Outdoor, Crystal CG, Eurostar, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, G4S, GSK, Gymnova, Heineken UK, Holiday Inn, John Lewis, McCann Worldgroup, Mondo, Next, The Nielsen Company, Populous, Rapiscan Systems, Rio Tinto, Technogym, Thames Water, Ticketmaster and Trebor.

There is one domestic Tier One Paralympic Games Partner, Sainsbury’s and one domestic Tier Three Paralympic Supplier, Otto Bock.

The Worldwide Olympic Partners signed up for London 2012 are Coca-Cola, Acer, Atos Origin, Dow Chemical Company, GE, McDonald’s, Omega, Panasonic, Procter and Gamble, Samsung and Visa.
