AECOM to utilize Super 78’s Mushroom VR platform for program management services in Asia-Pacific market

Jun 07, 2018 Joe Kleiman Asia, News, Technology & Media, Theme Parks, World markets Comments Off on AECOM to utilize Super 78’s Mushroom VR platform for program management services in Asia-Pacific market

AECOM to utilize Super 78’s Mushroom VR platform for program management services in Asia-Pacific market

AECOM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mushroom VR™, a wholly-owned unit of Super 78, to develop a collaborative platform that intends to transform theme park visualization and design processes. The two companies’ shared vision is to facilitate the bringing to life of groundbreaking, innovative ideas, with enhanced quality and effectiveness for project decision making.

The MOU reflects AECOM’s contribution of its integrated project management services for the themed entertainment industry, which were launched in 2017.  This suite of holistic services is aimed squarely at Asia’s rapidly growing theme park sector, building upon AECOM’s expertise in project and cost management, architecture, engineering and landscape design, which are all mission-critical expertise for clients desiring new and market-leading concepts and/or who may be new to the complex tasks of planning, designing, building and operating a large-scale, capital-intensive theme park.

The agreement also reflects Mushroom VR™ by Super 78’s industry-leading entertainment offerings, particularly, the next-generation immersive technology benefits presented by the Mushroom VR™ Collaboration Studio.  This is a unique, immersive, enterprise, virtual reality tool aimed at enabling participants in the creative process to imagine and design together.  Drawing on the complementary specializations of both parties, it will deliver groundbreaking visualization experiences that will enable design and planning teams to more efficiently conceptualize, plan, review and approve projects from anywhere in the world.  The tool will premiere to select customers during the third quarter of 2018.

“Through this collaboration, AECOM is bringing together our complete and exceptional array of proprietary, integrated program management services for large-investment theme park projects in Asia with the unique technology of Super 78,” said Chris Yoshii, Vice President, Asia Pacific and Global Director of Economics, AECOM.  “We will be offering an incredibly robust and flexible programme of benefits to support both new ideas and new developers.”

“Super 78 has been designing and developing media-based attractions for theme parks, museums, and all kinds of special venues for almost two decades, for clients around the world. Because we are both story tellers and media creators, part of our mission is to find and invent new technologies to make the development process as collaborative and as streamlined as possible.  We’re excited about the potential that a new collaboration with AECOM may present, particularly with their extensive experience across key growth markets in China, South and Southeast Asia,” said Brent Young, President and Creative Director for Super 78.

AECOM and Super 78 will premiere a beta test of the Mushroom VR™ Collaboration Studio immersive virtual reality tool at the AECOM booth (#1302) during the Asian Attractions Expo at the Hong Kong Convention Centre, through June 8, 2018.
