Barco has acquired the totality of Medialon shares in a move that is said to fit with both companies’ long-term strategies to strengthen their respective positions in networked show and AV control.
Barco, an international company headquartered in Kortrijk, Belgium, is active in imaging technology including large screen visualization.
In a letter to customers, Medialon CEO Alex Carru explained: “You can expect accelerated product feature developments, integration of functionalities into broader media networking platforms as well as the global customer service and professional services capacity which Barco provides all its customers today.”
New Events Controller
In a related announcement, the two companies introduced the new Events Controller show control system.
Described as a fully integrated show control system based on Barco’s D320 platform, the Events Controller is designed to enable control of all daylight and projection displays, as well as the Catalyst System™, automated and conventional lighting devices, smoke machines, image generators, truss motors, hydraulics and other show equipment.
Medialon’s Alex Carru described it as “a highly innovative product that represents a very powerful solution in image processing to achieve an exciting combination of video images.”
Steve Scorse, Division Manager, Barco Events, indicated that the product would be welcomed by the rental and staging industry.
