Alton Towers divulges details of upcoming annual Scarefest

Staffordshire, UK — It’s “Prepare for fright time” at the Alton Towers Resort this October as the annual Scarefest returns for its fifth year. Promising guests more terrifying thrills and spine-tingling chills than ever before, there’s something for everyone with a range of interactive attractions at Britain’s Greatest Escape this Halloween.

Taking place 15th – 31st October, Scarefest 2011 spooktacular will feature favourites such as the Boiler House, Carnival of Screams and the infamous Tower of Terror, as well as introducing some all new haunting horrors that will be sure to cater for all ages this Halloween.

Alongside spooks for younger guests and haunting horrors for thrill seekers, guests will also be able to experience the theme park’s adrenaline pumping rides including the five greats: Nemesis, Oblivion, Air, Rita and the world’s first free fall drop coaster TH13TEEN. With late night opening until 9pm every night during Scarefest, visitors can expect the unexpected whilst wandering through the iconic Towers and riding a host of rollercoasters in the dark.

Attractions include:
Carnival of Screams* Following its hugely successful launch in 2010, the Carnival of Screams is back for the second year! Twisted terror has come back to town with the return of an old travelling funhouse overtaken by evil clowns. Guests make their way through the disorientating maze, complete with its terrifying and freakish troupe, to escape, but beware, a hidden surprise may be lurking at the end.

Terror of the Towers – Guests uncover a dark and horrifying secret, hidden for centuries as strange noises have been heard emanating from the imposing, menacing Towers in the dead of the night. Lurking deep within the ruins, guests weave their way through the darkened corridors to investigate the evil force of the Towers.

The Boiler House** Based at the Staffordshire site, an abandoned Boiler House is rumoured to be the grisly lair to a pair of violent and psychopathic serial killers and it remains unclear how many victims have been mercilessly slaughtered during their reign of terror. Dare guests explore the darkened corridors of the Boiler House and risk falling victim to the gruesome games of the “Hamble Twins”?

Scare Rooms – The frights continue over in the Resort hotels with overnight thrills that are sure to shock. Alton Towers Hotel guests will need to prepare for bumps in the night and terrifying scares in the most unexpected places.

Light-hearted spooky fun for younger guests and their families at the Alton Towers Resort Scarefest includes:

  • Trick or Treat Doors – Coming back to the Alton Towers Resort, Millie, Molly and Meg are three peculiar witches who will provide laughs and spooks with their amazing song and dance show
  • Franklin’s freaky farm – meet Franklin, one of the loveable Scarefest characters at spooky story time.
  • Scarefest Characters – Based around the Resort for the duration of Scarefest, Skelvin, Franklin, Patch, and Phil are on-hand to welcome guests to this year’s event.
  • Spine tingling fun over at the Resort hotels with the Halloween kids club and spooky time with Darwin, everyone’s favourite Dodo!
