An Affair of the Art 2013 benefit for Ryman Arts

rymankathyThanks to the generosity of BRC Imagination Art’s Bob Rogers, InPark Editor Martin Palicki was invited to attend the annual fundraiser “An Affair of the Art” for Ryman Arts. Held at the home of Marty and Leah Sklar, the evening consisted o two portions. The first featured presentations by designers Chip Foose, Pixar’s Bill Cone, Walt Disney Imagineering writer Kevin Rafferty, illustrator Chris Turner and rockwork designer Zsolt Hormay on the various roles they each played in bringing Cars Land to life. Imagineer Kathy Mangum, Executive Producer of Cars Land, served as hostess for the presentations and Q&A sessions.

Artwork included everything from sculptural pieces, glassowork, paintings, sketches and more. Student artists continued to contribute to the art collection on display by sketching live models, sculpting figures, and creating murals.

The Disney designers also worked on items referencing Cars Land that were also sold to raise funds.

Artwork from the late Herb Ryman was some of the first pieces to sell, and work from other Disney legends, such as Bob Gurr, were in high demand.
