The Cornell Theme Park Entertainment Group has announced the results of the 2019 Cornell Theme Park Design Competition.
The competition was sponsored by Zamperla, WhiteWater, JRA, and FORREC. Judges were Gordon Dorrett (FORREC), David Ferguson (JRA), Timothy Jacobi (Zamperla), Stefan Lawrence (Stefan Rules!!!), and Kelly Sall (WhiteWater).
First-Place goes to Team 10, composed of Kristy Liou, Nicklas Lee, Matias Ricardo Lee Choi, and Aaron Nhan, all from The University of California, San Diego. Their project, titled Glacier Gorge (above), scored 268.5 points out of a possible 300.
Runners-Up goes to Team 12 and Team 2, respectively.
Team 12 is composed of Arielle Spencer, Carlos Ginatta, and Emma Oliver, all from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Their project, titled Solara’a (image top of page), scored 218 points.
Team 2 is composed of Maripaz Alfaro, Lauren Bizzigotti, Rachel Fugate, and Jasmine Currey, all from the Savannah College of Art and Design as well. Their project, titled Marvelous Island (above), scored 214 points.
The individual challenge prize winners are:
The Jack Rouse Associates Concept Design Challenge goes to Team 10, who scored 71 out of a possible 75 points. Runner-up goes to Team 12 with their score of 64 points.
The WhiteWater West Industries Ltd. Development Challenge goes to Team 10, who scored 67.5 out of a possible 75 points. Runner-up goes to Team 2 with their score of 56 points.
The Antonio Zamperla Spa Technical Analysis Challenge goes to Team 10, who scored 66 out of a possible 75 points. Runner-up goes to Team 28, composed of Bailey Martinez, Sarah Adams, Jared Rosenberg, and Nina Janies from the University of Michigan, whose project titled Brandywine Springs scored 53 points.
The FORREC Ltd. Master Planning Challenge goes to Team 10, who scored 64 out of a possible 75 points. Runner-up goes to Team 12 with their score of 54 points.
