Give Kids the World Completes “Extreme Village Makeover”

Kissimmee, FL, USA (February 17, 2014) — It took more than 500 contractors, 7,500 volunteer hours and 29 tractor trailers to make  Give Kids The World’s (GKTW) “Extreme Village Makeover” a tremendous success. GKTW followed the lead of its partner, Wyndham Vacation Ownership, to renovate 88 villas in a magical two week period in January 2014.

“With the Village being 25 years old this year, 88 of our villas were in urgent need of upgrades and repairs,” said Pamela Landwirth, GKTW president. “Thanks to the tireless efforts of countless corporations, individuals and volunteers groups, we were able to complete the renovations so our precious wish families will all be able to enjoy a beautiful, welcoming home away from home.”

“It took so many people and an incredible amount of construction materials and equipment, we thought it would be interesting to put together an ‘Extreme Village Makeover’ by the numbers infographic to give everyone a mental picture of what a project like this entails,” said Michael Bausman, GKTW director of facilities resources.
