Global Immersion Introduces GSX Line to Meet Giant Screen Film Standards

West Sussex, UK (March 19, 2012) — Premium immersive theater attraction provider Global Immersion has today announced the launch of GSX™; an exclusive range of 3D and 2D giant screen digital projection systems designed to meet and exceed the performance of giant screen film systems.

The GSX range, comprising GSX™, GSX Dome™ and GSX Fulldome™, offers a unique solution for the industry of commercial and institutional giant screen theaters. This series of digital cinema systems has been designed specifically for DIGSS (Digital Immersive Giant Screen Specification), and delivers outstanding performance and unrivaled features.

Fronting the range is GSX, the digital giant screen system for flat or curved screen theaters. Fully compliant with Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI) specifications, the GSX product also delivers True 4:3™; a digitally projected 4:3 aspect ratio display with a 4000 x 3000 pixel resolution.

GSX Dome, for giant screen insert displays within dome theaters, and GSX Fulldome, for high performance digital giant screen fulldome displays, further expand the range to offer an optimum solution for the global network of giant screen theaters.

The full range of GSX theater display systems has been designed for DIGSS standards specifically in areas of display resolution, luminance, aspect ratio, contrast and frame rate. The range also offers both 3D and 2D stereoscopic digital experiences, delivers higher frame rates of up to 60 frames per second, and is geared to provide the brightest and most vibrant images with the broadest range of content programming choice.

Martin Howe, Chief Executive at Global Immersion commented; “We have been working closely with industry consultants and theaters to develop a series of products specifically for digital giant screen theater. The launch of the GSX range of theater systems marks a truly exciting milestone in our journey as innovators of high performance immersive experiences. The range has been exclusively designed to exceed the exceptional standards and performance demands that exist among the world’s giant screen theater network.”

At the heart of every GSX™ system lies ImageFusion™, a unique combination of hardware and software technologies including custom lenses, image processing and pixel optimization tools, automated alignment systems, performance monitoring and remote diagnostics. This key feature enables the power and resolution of multiple cinema-grade projectors to be combined to deliver the biggest, highest resolution and brightest seamless projection systems available on the market today.

The GSX range is designed to offer theaters an extensive and unrestricted choice of media and show experiences. This includes digital large format and fulldome movies in addition to live-streamed events, musical performances and other alternative programming.

“One of the real benefits of the GSX range lies in the almost endless pool of opportunity to bring unique media experiences into these theaters”, says Howe. “Our strategy has always been to create a solution that not simply raises the bar in terms of visual performance, but one that supports the operational goals of theaters; empowering them to extend their range of programming. We believe that this open-platform approach is key to driving industry growth and enabling long-term consumer-appeal for these theaters.”
