Osaka, Japan (May 9, 2012) — Variety and the Los Angeles Times are both reporting that Universal Studios Japan will officially announce a new Wizarding World of Harry Potter themed land tomorrow.
The Times reports: “The Osaka destination — expected to begin construction in the next few weeks with a planned opening in late 2014 and an expected cost of about $500 million — brings Hogwarts Castle and rides including Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey to the boy wizard’s biggest market outside of the United States.”
According to Variety: “Company is taking what it learned in Orlando and applying it to the next Wizarding Worlds — the biggest being expanding the size of retail locations like Ollivander’s wand shop, which proved too cramped for throngs of guests.”
In addition to the currently operating Wizarding World at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando, FL, USA,  a Harry Potter land has been announced for Universal Studios Hollywood near Los Angeles, CA, USA and a behind the scenes studio tour opened in March at Leavesden Studios near London.
