I was a HHN virgin

Greetings from rainy Florida and the opening of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida.
I have to admit, this event is one of my favorite nights every year. The folks at the Universal Orlando resort work so hard every year to put together an amazing event designed to make thousands of guests laugh, scream, and occasionally run away in fright! Tonight is the official opening night for Halloween Horror Nights, but it’s also their media preview night. I’m pleased to be taking co-editor Judith Rubin (in town for the SATE ’11 Orlando conference) along with me for her first ever Halloween Horror Nights. I think it will make for some interesting dialog between her fresh perspective on the event, and my more…shall we say, seasoned… viewpoint.

There’s a first time for everything. Judy says, “I found myself ‘unwinding’ amid the gruesome spectacles and spectacular gruesomeness that are Universal Studios Florida Halloween Horror Nights. I enjoyed the maze based on The Thing as well as the H.R. Bloodenguts corpse-filled environment and I loved the pulpy 3D maze of the In Between world.”

Watch for my comprehensive report, with more pictures, to follow. — M.P.
