IAAPA Hires One, Promotes Two

headerlogoAlexandria, VA, USA — The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) has hired one new employee and promoted two staff members effective January 2013.

Michael Adu has joined IAAPA as a senior accountant; Alice Mathu has been promoted to director of sales and exhibitor marketing; and Scott Cahoon has been promoted to a full-time media relations assistant.

michael-adu---jan-2013In his new position, Adu is heavily involved with IAAPA’s member database, show and event database, the European data integration and reconciliation processes, as well as additional accounting and management functions. He is a CPA candidate and a 2007 graduate of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and holds degrees in accounting and finance. Before joining IAAPA, Adu spent the past five years with the American Academy of Physician Assistants and was promoted twice during his time there.

dscn0853Mathu has been with IAAPA since March 2006, serving in roles focused on exhibitor sales and service for Asian Attractions Expo and IAAPA Attractions Expo. As director of sales and exhibitor marketing, Mathu will lead exhibitor marketing efforts, direct exhibitor sales efforts, and work closely with related vendors. She holds an Event Management Certificate from George Washington University, a Certificate in Exhibition Management (CEM), and is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP). Mathu graduated in 2000 with a degree in community development and communication from Daystar University in Kenya.

dscn0815Cahoon joined IAAPA in May 2012 in a part-time capacity as media relations assistant. In his new full-time role, Cahoon will write press releases and whitepapers, track media coverage of IAAPA and the attractions industry, assist with editing association materials, and contribute to Funworld Magazine. Cahoon is a 2011 graduate of West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia, and holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
