By James Ogul, InPark Magazine World’s Fair Editor

BREAKING: As announced yesterday (see box below), the State Department has selected the Big Things Group (BTG) as its Private Sector Partner to develop and operate a U.S. Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.  The Pavilion is expected to cost approximately $60 million, with the theme “What Moves You, “and will be located in the Mobility Zone of the Expo.  The U.S. will be one of 180 countries participating in this World’s Fair sanctioned by the Bureau International des Exhibitions (BIE).  The expo theme is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” and is expected to draw 25 million visits with 70% coming from abroad.  BTG will have to raise $60 million as the State Department has not appropriated any funds for this project.  The Expo opens October 20, 2020 and closes April 10, 2021.
