If you haven’t been to our website lately, you might not know that we had a slight production schedule change. Late in 2007 we changed our first issue from a Jan/Feb release to a Feb/Mar distribution. This was primarily done to better align our distribution dates with the fall trade shows like WWA and IAAPA.
I have always worked hard to make sure InPark was distributed on time, without missing an issue. Part of this rescheduling forced us to hold this first issue for the highly anticipated amusement and water park attendance figures, which, due to various report scheduling and other timing issues, is not available for publication until the middle of March. I apologize for this long delay between issues. But I am happy to report that this is a one-time occurrence, and your second issue for 2008 will be in the mail within two weeks. We will still have six issues in 2008, with the final issue straddling the new year as a Dec/Jan publication.
One other great opportunity provided by this schedule change was the ability to include copies of our Apr/May issue to be handed out to every attendee at MuseumExpo. Which leads me to another item of mention. Starting this year, InPark is launching a new logo and new look, which you have probably already noticed. IPM comes from InPark Magazine, but it also stands for our expanded market coverage, as we continue to delve Inside Parks & Museums. We’re still the same publication, but the shift allows us to cover more of the exciting projects being created for museums and cultural institutions that come from the same minds of the people that design our parks and attractions.
Finally, while the table of contents here may seem short, this issue is really packed with three powerhouse features. Our Dreams, Designs & Divinations hopes to become an annual piece where industry insiders predict what lies in our future, while submitting some fantastic dream projects that haven’t been built, but should be!
The attendance report stands for itself, and we continue on with the second installment of our six-part series on World’s Fairs. Zaragoza 2008 opens in just three months.
Due to the length of each of our feature stories for this issue, we have opted to provide them in PDF format only for easier viewing and printing.
