Main Event Prepares to Open Third Houston Area FEC in Late 2012

Dallas, TX, USA /BUSINESS WIRE/ — Main Event Entertainment, a leading family entertainment company based in Dallas, continues its expansion across Texas with plans to open its 11th location in Katy, a growing suburban community of Houston. Set to open in late 2012, Main Event Katy will be anchored in a brand new 129-acre multi-use development, Katy Ranch Crossing, conveniently located near Interstate 10 and Katy Mills Mall Outlet.

The Katy location will be an “Eat, Bowl, Play” experience for its residents and surrounding areas. The large-scale facility will have entertainment options for all ages, featuring state-of-the-art bowling, billiards, laser tag, an indoor ropes course and more than 100 virtual and interactive games, as well as attractive dining options and full service bars. Main Event Entertainment currently operates high-volume family entertainment centers throughout Texas, including Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, Lubbock and soon to come San Antonio, in the Spring of 2012.

“We have been trying to get to Katy for some time. Katy is a perfect match for Main Event and we are thrilled to be opening our next location in this vibrant, growing community,” said Charlie Keegan, CEO of Main Event Entertainment. “As Katy grows, families and businesses need new entertainment options, and Main Event is confident that our guest experience and quality service will find a good home at Katy Ranch Crossing.”

Main Event Katy will be the third location in the greater Houston area and will feature the newest Main Event prototype. Currently there is an operation in Webster, Texas, in the Clear Lake area, as well as a location near The Woodlands in Shenandoah. The Katy location is less than 30 minutes from downtown Houston.

Katy’s impending development, Katy Ranch Crossing, has been a long time vision in the mind of Houston-based developer and real estate investor, Mike Baker. He is thrilled to bring it to fruition. “I’ve been working diligently on the infrastructure for the last few years,” he said. “I’m excited to see it come to life and have Main Event Entertainment be a key part in its future success.”

Katy Ranch Crossing will be designed to have up to 750,000 square feet of retail, medical and restaurant space. Construction and development is expected to occur in phases over the next five years, beginning in the first quarter of 2012.

Each location in Main Event’s portfolio is anchored by contemporary Bowling Lanes that boast huge viewing screens playing popular music videos or sporting events, optional bumpers for younger bowlers and comfortable seating areas. The interior design of the venue will feature cozy seating, providing comfort and style to converse with family and friends, get a little work done on a laptop with complimentary Wi-Fi, or sit back and relax while the kids enjoy themselves.

The Katy location will also offer GRAVITY, a unique indoor ropes course, which made its Texas debut at Main Event Frisco. Suspended 12 feet above ground, the attraction has more than 15 separate indoor vertical and horizontal challenges, including swaying bridges, narrow beams, and a field of nets and ropes to scale, balance and trek through.

One of Main Event’s most popular attractions is Laser Tag, a thrilling activity perfect for those with a competitive spirit and a natural fit for corporate and team building events. Guests enjoy the challenge of maneuvering their way through a futuristic arena filled with glow-in-the-dark pillars, arches, passageways and swirling fog in an effort to capture their opponent’s base station and claim victory.

Each Main Event is also home to an expansive Game Room, with more than 100 state-of-the-art video, virtual, interactive and redemption games. Gamers who want an extreme experience can take a ride on Max Flight and create their own custom-built roller coaster ride in a virtual reality environment with a full 360-degree, two-axis motion platform.
