The GSCA Board of Directors elected new officers for the 2011 board term during a meeting held on March 7 at the Film Expo in Los Angeles. Mark Katz (National Geographic) will serve as Chair, and Jeffrey Kirsch (Reuben H. Fleet Science Center) is Vice Chair. Both will serve one-year terms in these positions. Patricia Keighley (DKP 70MM Inc.) will continue as Secretary through 2011, and Gordon Stalans (Tennessee Aquarium) will continue as Treasurer.
The following board members will serve on the Executive Committee: Mark Katz, Jeffrey Kirsch, Patricia Keighley, Gordon Stalans, Rick Gordon (RPG Productions), Berend Reijnhoudt (Omniversum), and Don Kempf (Giant Screen Films).
The Governance Committee, chaired by Gordon Stalans, now includes Laurent Dondey (La Geode), Jeffrey Kirsch, John Wickstrom (Museum of Science and Industry), Mark Katz, and former GSCA Chair Toby Mensforth.
Committee Chairs were also assigned during the meeting. The Professional Development Committee will be chaired by Jackie Mollet (Saint Louis Science Center) and Daniel Ferguson. Glenn Newland (Technicolor) and Andrew Oran (FotoKem) will chair the Technical Committee. Mary Nucci (Rutgers University) is chair of the Lifelong Learning Committee. The Conference Committee will be chaired by Glenn Shaver (Ontario Science Centre) and Dick Vaughan (National Media Museum). Gil Perez (Destination Cinema) and Andy Wood (Giant Screen Films) will chair the Marketing and Member Services Committee, a new committee formed by combining the Marketing Committee and Member Services Committee, which were seeing an increasing overlap in responsibilities.
