MR-ProFun Opens Shanghai Office

For All the World to See

Tustin, CA, USA  June 5  — ProFun Management Group has expanded its growing global leisure and entertainment advisory and management business with the opening of its new legal subsidiary company in China.  This new company, headquartered in Shanghai, will be known as MR ProFun China and will serve the company’s growing client base in the fast-growing Chinese leisure-entertainment market segment.

Throughout its history, ProFun has provided a variety of development and operational services to a wide range of clients worldwide.  Clients and projects have included theme parks, expositions, museums, entertainment centers as well as cultural and entertainment special events.  ProFun’s business goal has been to assist clients in competing profitably in the leisure-entertainment market while offering guests enjoyable experiences.

Brad Merriman, ProFun’s Chief Operating Officer, will serve as Board Chairman for the new China expansion and oversee and manage all aspects of this new venture.

“The interest in leisure, cultural entertainment activities and themed destinations in China, both for local markets and visitors, has been substantial the last few years and ProFun felt the timing was right to have a professional staff in place to serve some exciting new opportunities.”   Merriman said, “In just a short time we already have several new projects we are involved with and a variety of other opportunities we are exploring.  Many of these developments include a combination of both educational and cultural entertainment that highlights China’s rich and –fascinating history.”

Building on the success of its Operational Management of the award-winning Information and Communications Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010, MR ProFun China has expanded its experience in the Chinese market by supporting some of the best-known leisure and entertainment developments in the country.  Current MR ProFun projects include:

Changbai Mountain Culture and Creative Industry Park Complex.   This new leisure and cultural destination experience will highlight the launching of the Chinese National Geography Center (CNC).  Located in a well-known national scenic area at the base of the historic Changbai Mountain, this complex will include an indoor theater to showcase a multi-media presentation on the history and cultural significance of the mountain setting as well as other guest service amenities.

Nanyue Tianzisham Fire Culture Theme Park.  Located in Nanyue near the base of the magnificent Hengshan scenic area, MR ProFun China is working on the development of an exciting new retail, dining and cultural entertainment destination unlike anything in the area.  Nanyue Tianzisham Fire Culture Park will celebrate and bring to life the origin and culture of fire through a series of unique immersive environments, attractions and entertainment experiences for both local area residents and visitors to enjoy all year long.  The new park, dedicated to the God of Fire, Zhu Rong, will also include garden settings, educational programs, entertainment, retail dining and a variety of overnight accommodations.

Badaling Great Wall of China Destination:  MR ProFun is supporting the development of a multi-phase visitor experience for the Badaling location at China’s Great Wall.  This location currently hosts over 8 million visitors a year and the new project will include a variety of historically themed educational and cultural activities.  Plans call for the redevelopment of ancient Chadao Village, once the home for soldiers who manned and protected the Great Wall. Included in this project scope is the planning and development of a more comprehensive visitor experience as well as overnight lodging, food services and transportation.

Future Ark:  A massive mixed-use residential and commercial development in China’s southwestern Province of Guizhou is working with MR ProFun to develop a plan to position a range of Future Ark destination entertainment and large-scale cultural attractions within the new development.  These include a theme park, indoor water park, indoor family entertainment center, ski park,  aquarium, performing arts center, museum and variety of novel shopping and dining experiences.

Qingdao Rio Carnival:  Developers for his new scenic waterfront setting near China’s historic Qingdao City have asked MR ProFun to develop business strategy and operational plans for several entertainment and attraction experiences that will make up this new seaside destination.  These attractions include a themed children’s park, indoor theme park and indoor-outdoor water park.
