Ocean Breeze Waterpark Purchased by Former Six Flags Executives – Multi-Million Dollar Expansion Planned for Summer 2011

VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia, USA /PRNewswire/ — Ocean Breeze Waterpark has been acquired by former Six Flags executives Kieran Burke and Gary Story.  Terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
“We are absolutely thrilled by the opportunity to be part of Virginia Beach‘s dynamic family entertainment community,” said Kieran Burke.  “Ocean Breeze is an iconic part of Hampton Roads and we intend to invest our resources and energy in making the popular water park even more exciting.”
The new owners are planning a multi-year redevelopment program for Ocean Breeze Waterpark.  Plans for the 2011 season include a multi-million dollar expansion that will dramatically improve the quality and variety of attractions.  Details of the 2011 park improvements will be announced in early February.
“While exploring the opportunity to acquire Ocean Breeze Waterpark, we were impressed by the park and the region’s potential for growth,” said Burke.  “By investing in this well-positioned water park, we can provide economic benefit for the community while delivering world-class water park entertainment for residents and visitors alike.”
Burke and Story, who respectively served as Six Flags’ Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer for more than 10 years, have remained active in the attractions industry carefully selecting projects that can benefit from their experience and a focused investment of both time and resources.  In 2009, the pair acquired Nashville Shores, a waterpark, marina and RV resort in Nashville, Tennessee and dramatically transformed the waterpark for the 2010 season.
