Orlando’s I-Drive Soon to Stand for “Intamin Drive” As Polercoaster Joins Orlando Eye in Company’s Project Portfolio

Orlando, FL, USA (July 28, 2015) — US Thrill Rides announced today that the ride supplier for the Orlando, Florida Polercoaster project, fittingly named the “Skyscraper at Skyplex”, will be Liechtenstein-based ride maker Intamin Amusements Rides. Under the terms of the agreement with International Amusements Inc., Intamin will supply the ride system for the world-record-breaking roller coaster. The announcement comes just months after the opening of the Orlando Eye, a 400-foot Intamin giant wheel located half a mile south on International Dirve (“I-Drive”). When completed in 2018, the Intamin manufactured “Skyscraper” roller coaster riders will reach over 500+ feet in the air, hit speeds of 50+ miles-per-hour, and travel well over a mile throughout the towering structure and campus of Skyplex.

“This is a very important milestone for the development team,” says Joshua Wallack, one of the principle developers of the $460 million dollar Skyplex project in Orlando, FL. “After over a year of extensive design and engineering work focusing on the recordbreaking track layout and rider experience, as well as an extensive industry review, we are very excited to announce the supply contract award to Intamin, one of the world’s premier roller coaster manufacturers.”

Slated to open to the public in the spring of 2018, the Skyscraper at Skyplex will include the 570-foot world’s tallest roller coaster (Skyscraper), a 450-foot drop tower (SkyFall), 400,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment space, a massive zip-line, 350- key hotel, and a 2700 space parking structure. Construction is expected to begin this fall on the complex.

“We could not be more pleased to have Intamin and International Amusements Inc. on board to manufacture the ride component of the Polercoaster (Skyscraper) attraction here in our own backyard,” says Orlando, FL based Bill Kitchen, founder of US Thrill Rides and inventor of the Polercoaster. “Intamin has a very well known reputation in building record-breaking rollercoasters. We are proud to have a assembled such a world-class team to build this icon.” When commissioned, the Skyscraper at Skyplex will be the world’s tallest rollercoaster at over 500+ feet tall, with over 6,000 feet of multiple-looping and fully inverting steel track, traversing both through the observation tower and the campus of the Skyplex.
