RCI to Manufacture and Distribute Clip ‘n Climb Climbing Structures in the Americas

Ropes Courses, Inc. (RCI) has signed a deal with New Zealand-based company, Clip ‘n Climb®, to manufacture their climbing structures in Michigan and assume distribution responsibilities to the North and South American markets.

To fully integrate Clip ‘n Climb® manufacturing and operations, RCI production manager Brad Ade recently traveled to New Zealand to learn their process to ensure a smooth transition.

“This trip allowed me to witness firsthand how their company operates and gain additional insight on how RCI can be as efficient as possible as we integrate new product construction and distribution into our operations,” explained Ade.

Clip ‘n Climb® was founded by John Targett and Tim Wethey in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 2006 and was inspired by their passion for climbing and identifying strategies to make it more appealing and accessible to children and adults with limited or no climbing experience. Targett’s knowledge of the amusement industry coupled with Wethey’s construction experience combined for a partnership that elevated indoor climbing. The product was an instant success and has since established Clip ‘n Climb’s® reputation as the premier market leader in the fun-climbing sector.

RCI has similar roots. After opening his first zip line in 1982, owner Jim Liggett recognized growing  interest in fresh, fun, and innovative attractions that had low staffing needs but could accommodate high volume usage. RCI was established in 1989 and today employs more than 80 people as designers, engineers, and manufacturers that create, develop, and install attractions at a variety of facilities worldwide.

“We wanted to expand our portfolio to offer our customers a range of activities that keep families excited about coming to their facilities,” said Marissa Ticknor, RCI sales manager. “Clip ‘n Climb® is a natural fit with our product assortment and we are eager to be collaborating with such a highly regarded company.”

Both Clip ‘n Climb® climbing challenges and Sky Trail® ropes courses cater to all ages and abilities, utilize similar safety equipment, and offer numerous elements for participants to venture onto, climb, and explore. RCI will have these products and more on display at the IAAPA Trade Show Nov. 14-17, 2017 in booth 5430 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
