Ryman Arts News: Education Manager Recognized at State Conference; Board Names Officers

 

Ryman Arts Education Manager Rebecca Tuynman was recognized as an Outstanding Visual Arts Supervisor/Administrator of the Year at the California Art Education Association State Conference.

Tuynman has been with Ryman Arts since 2005 and has over 20 years of experience in art education, having worked prior to Ryman Arts in a variety of community organizations, schools, universities, and museums.

In other Ryman Arts news, the nonprofit’s Board of Directors recently elected the following new officers earlier this month:

Phil Hettema, President

David Price, Vice President

Robin Kalota, Treasurer

Scott Ault, Secretary

Phil Hettema has served on the Board of Ryman Arts since 2014. Phil is the President and Creative Executive of The Hettema Group (THG).  With a distinguished 30-year legacy in themed entertainment, Hettema leads a world class team of experience designers, architects, and media producers known for creating uniquely compelling guest experiences with great emotional resonance.

Hettema stated of his new role, “I’m very excited and honored to be a part of this extraordinary organization. Ryman Arts does so much more than train young artists. It develops confidence, expression and a whole host of tools that prepare the leaders of tomorrow. I look forward to working with our amazing staff and board of directors as we continue to lead Ryman Arts in its mission to bring positive change through the arts to hundreds of young lives.”

Scott Ault, CEO of Rethink Leisure & Entertainment, was also elected to the Executive Committee as Board Secretary. Wayne Hunt, who completed his term as Board President from 2015-2017 will continue serving on the Ryman Arts Board.
