Tickets for 2017 TEA SATE Conference at CalArts Sell Out Ahead of Event

The 2017 TEA SATE conference on Experience Design has reached capacity, with ticket sales for all 400 delegates complete. Organized by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), SATE 17 LA  will take place Oct 5-6 at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).

The SATE acronym illustrates the creative culture of themed entertainment: Storytelling + Architecture + Technology = Experience. Conference co-chairs Chris Conte of Electrosonic, Dina Benadon of Super 78 Studios and Christian Kubsch of Walt Disney Imagineering are supported by segment chairs Paul Osterhout of Universal Creative (Storytelling), Louis Allen of Adirondack Studios (Architecture) and Corey Rosen of Tippett Studio (Technology).

“Los Angeles is a hub of our industry and CalArts is literally the school that Walt Disney built,” says co-chair Chris Conte. “We’re honored and excited by this collaboration and gratified that every seat at SATE 17 LA will be filled.”

With the theme, “Beyond the Screen: The Future of Immersive Realities,” SATE organizers have made the most of the CalArts location and LA-area resources, recruiting leaders and visionaries from film, TV, and gaming as well as icons of themed entertainment. The keynote speaker is Michael Jung, VP Theatrical Development, Walt Disney Imagineering, in a curated conversation with Travis Preston, Dean of the CalArts School of Theater.

On Oct 4, the eve of the conference, a separately ticketed event will be held at nearby Six Flags Magic Mountain in the new JUSTICE LEAGUE attraction.

TEA and SATE are also in Asia and EME

Themed entertainment is a growing, influential industry that has gained attention in the international financial, tourism and cultural space – continuing to thrive in North America while evolving globally, in Europe, Asia and the Gulf Region. TEA serves an international membership of 1,350+ companies representing some 10,000 individuals active in theme parks, museums and visitor attractions.

“As TEA grows, and as our industry grows, we’re pleased to be able to grow SATE,” says TEA International Board President David Willrich of DJ Willrich Ltd. “Earlier in 2017, SATE Europe took place in the UK. SATE LA will be followed by SATE Asia Nov 3-5 in Beijing. We plan to continue building the SATE brand with additional gatherings in 2018.”
