Science North to Develop New Science Center in Guangzhou, China

As part of its ongoing international business development, Science North, Canada’s second largest science center, recently signed a cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Grandview Enterprise Co., Ltd., in Guangzhou, China. The MOU between Science North and Grandview Enterprise Co., Ltd., will formalize their relationship and will leverage Science North’s expertise in science center operations, science education, commerce, professional services, and talent training to aid in the creation of a new science center in Guangzhou, China.

Guy Labine, Science North CEO and Max Xie, CEO of Grandview Enterprise were on hand to sign the MOU in the presence of Ontario’s International Trade Minister Michael Chan during the Guangzhou International Shopping Festival (ISF). This year, the festival’s theme is Creating a World Class Tourist City, with a focus on Canadian collaboration. The city’s mission is to foster the cultural awareness, exchange, and sensitivity  between Guangzhou and Canada, while promoting commercial prosperity and tourism between both regions.

According to Labine: “Science North’s collaboration with Grandview Enterprises will benefit both our organizations as we share our knowledge and expertise in operating a science center as well as in science communication to the public. Not only does the partnership help Science North expand on its international external consulting, but it also demonstrates that Science North is beginning to become a global voice on the topics of science, education, tourism and culture.”
