The very definition of exhibition design is changing radically and rapidly.

Exhibitions are no longer confined to venerable institutions and museums. They’re virtual, or they show up in shopping malls or on urban streetscapes or in temporary pop-up venues. The lines between retail and exhibition are blurring as well, with user-generated content, social media, and digital technologies making sure of that.

We know consumers are in love with technology, which they can get from the comfort of their couch. But how to get them to visit exhibitions – physical or digital – and experience something they can’t get at home?

The bottom line for exhibition designers: Artifacts in dusty cases are out. Compelling, immersive experiences that bring content to life are in.

Join us at the SEGD Exhibition & Experience Design Workshop, where we’ll explore the art of museum and exhibition design and discover how designers and integrators are using technology, interaction, storytelling, and experience metrics to perfect the user experience.

This two-day event is focused on current design methodologies and trends in exhibition and experience design. We’ll travel the diverse spectrum of experience design – from curated exhibits that showcase artifacts, information, and stories in innovative ways to consumer-driven retail experiences that activate buyer behavior in a showrooming world. We’ll examine the process of creating experiences that don’t just relay information, but tell the stories of objects, products, people, and place.

The SEGD Exhibition & Experience Design workshop will consist of on-site tours, presentations from experts, and breakout trend discussions on key areas of practice such as user experience, interaction design, digital technology, retail design, and more. SEGD E&E will be held at the Washington, D.C., offices of Gensler.

Join the interdisciplinary audience of designers, architects, technologists, and planners from this convergent and rapidly evolving design practice. Register today!
