India’s Funcity goes cashless with Semnox technology

Semnox Solutions has successfully enabled Funcity to migrate to cashless RFID systems at its outlets across India. The company has made the switch from its existing card system to  Semnox’s RFID system that functions on a ‘tap-to-play’ model for a seamless experience. Starting off with a pilot at Funcity, Alpha One Mall, Ahmedabad, the process has now been completed. Funcity decided to go ahead with the pan-India migration after a detailed study of system capabilities.

Primarily catering to children aged between 1 to 12 years, Funcity offers a variety of rides and games. Owned by Dubai-based Landmark Group, Funcity operates 28 centers across India while continuing to expand. Established in 1998, Funcity is today one of the most recognized and popular brands of FEC’s with a presence in India, the Middle East, and Egypt.

“We have been observing the constant innovation and growth of Semnox over the years. The professionalism they bring to the table is commendable. We have always associated with the best and when it comes to a card system we had tried two other card systems prior to this. However, Semnox surpasses both in terms of feature availability and prompt support. Moreover, they have an in-house development team that is very supportive with integrations and development,” says Tarun Rangwani, head, Funcity India.

State-of-the-art Lumin readers from Semnox can now be seen at Funcity outlets across India. Distinguished by their illuminated surface and the capability to generate color patterns, these readers are especially suitable for profiling games. With these, Funcity customers can easily differentiate between ticketing games and non-ticketing/video games. In addition, promotions can be linked to Lumin patterns making it easy for customers to pick out games/rides that come under the promotion.

“This is indeed a big win for us and proves that we continue to focus and grow in the domestic region. We are very grateful to Funcity for placing their trust in us and giving us this opportunity. Funcity has a dedicated IT team and the entire migration process was carefully planned out and executed. This has helped us achieve a seamless system changeover at every store which was usually carried out overnight. It is indeed a pleasure working with Tarun Rangwani and his team,” says Umesh Prabhu, director, Semnox.

Funcity has also opted for the cloud-based management solution from Semnox. With this, centralized corporate management of all stores is now possible New products, redemption items, promotions, and offers can be set up centrally and pushed to all or selective stores without any hassle. With the card roaming feature, customers can purchase cards at any store and use it in any of the Funcity outlets.  Funcity is also exploring the integrated campaign & SMS module through which it is possible to send welcome, promotion, and alert messages to registered customers.
