September 3 Final Day of Operation for Two California Thrill Rides

Santa Cruz and Buena Park, CA, USA (August 14, 2012) — The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, CA released the following statement in their August newsletter:

It’s time to say goodbye to the Hurricane! Last day of operation is September 3, 2012. Stay tuned for an announcement about an exciting NEW RIDE!


Hurricane, an S.D.C. roller coaster in operation since 1992 was placed on sale in March.
 Meanwhile, Buena Park, CA’s Knott’s Berry Farm, a Cedar Fair property, gave notice on Perilous Plunge, an Intamin Megasplash in operation since 2000, with the following statement on the park’s facebook page today:

Perilous Plunge will be closing September 3. Give it a proper send off with a final ride! Future plans for the site will be released soon.
