Maurer brought its Spike coaster car to the show floor at IAAPA. The first version of the ride opened at Skyline Park outside Munich, Germany (which InPark previewed in September 2016) and has been quite popular with park goers. According to Maurer’s Executive Business Steve Boney there has been some interest at the show in using the ride system in a highly themed dark ride attraction. While the initial coaster allows the rider some control over speed and acceleration, those could be tightly controlled by the designer to create an immersive storytelling experience that featured slow moving scenic elements and fast-paced coaster segments.
