Orlando — S&S Worldwide is in the process of introducing the Steeplechase Coaster, a classic equestrian-themed attraction introduced in 1896 at Brooklyn, New York’s Steeplechase Park. It was remade by Arrow Dynamics in 1976; S&S now owns Arrow. Using the 40-year-old version from the UK’s Blackpool Pleasure Beach as a model, S&S is working to update Steeplechase to modern excitement and safety standards, explained Pete Barto, director of sales. “We flew engineers over to study the Blackpool ride,” he said. Among the new features is a bar restraint, which will lower the height requirement from 55 inches to 42 inches. The ride, a mobious loop that will bypass the station during the first spin around, will be available themed with horses, motorcycles, dragons and raptors and more. The prototype is operational in Utah.
