Stone Mountain Park Celebrates Summer at the Rock with New Attraction and Show

Stone Mountain, GA, USA — Stone Mountain Park (SMP) and Humana present Summer at the Rock, two months of outdoor fun featuring the park’s newest attraction Geyser Towers and new family entertainment show Parrots of Rio: A Carnival of Performing Parrots.

The park’s newest addition, Geyser Towers, is a two-story tall climbing attraction with periodic water eruptions that is all about getting families out of the house, moving and if they choose, getting soaked. With a mixture of geysers, misters and sprayers, kids and parents never know what awaits around the corner as they are challenged to play in the spray or stay high and dry. Multiple levels of suspended rope bridges and net tunnels connect a trio of towering platforms that overlook a 40-foot gushing geyser. The million-dollar attraction is the first of its kind in North America.

“Geyser Towers offers the perfect way for our guests to cool off from the summer heat” said Stone Mountain Park assistant general manager Sara Van Pelt. “Now that summer’s arrived, families are looking for outdoor activities they can do together and Geyser Towers provides them that fun opportunity to tackle a climbing challenge as a team.”

Also new this summer is Parrots of Rio: A Carnival of Performing Parrots, a family entertainment show that features live parrots flying, swooping, talking and riding bicycles. The parrot show is included with an Adventure Pass or Mountain Membership.

Summer at the Rock also returns several of guest’s favorite shows including Wake the Bear, Adventure Tales Storytelling, and Campers in the Mist. The nation’s largest and longest running Lasershow Spectacular in Mountainvision will run nightly through July 29.

Listed in Frommer’s 500 Places to Visit with Your Kids Before They Grow Up and cited by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as one of the “35 Natural Wonders in Georgia You Must See Before You Die,” Stone Mountain Park is located 16 miles east of downtown Atlanta.
