Photo: Tivoli
Tivoli in Copenhagen, Denmark, opens the summer season on 14 April and announces that “it will be a season of cultural events and entertainment, including a new Easter Festival, a Friday Rock program with the emphasis on rock music and talented young performers, new family entertainment with Petzi on Sundays, 61 classical concerts in the Concert Hall, new food outlets and a greener Tivoli with grass in front of the Open Air Stage and the Pantomime Theatre throughout the season. Tivoli also introduces a new price structure with free admission for children up to 8 years of age and reduced prices for adults. All this will happen during the summer season from 14 April to 25 September (both days included).”
Some details:
Easter celebration
Tivoli’s Easter Parade includes the participation of chickens, Pierrot, Harlequin, Columbine, Petzi, and the Tivoli Boys Guard, among others. The Gardens will be filled with thousands of flowers in the colors of Easter. From 14 April to 25 April.
”Titanic – The Exhibition” moves into the Tivoli Castle
”Titanic – The Exhibition” about the world’s most famous maritime disaster
offers a rare insight into life on board the legendary ocean liner, giving visitors the opportunity to experience reconstructed suites, letters from victims, and priceless original effects from the lost liner. In addition, there will be a special section about the 14 Danes who were on board. ”Titanic – The Exhibition” can be seen at the Tivoli Castle from 10 April.
Pop, rock and jazz on the bill
Admission to all Friday Rock concerts is free for visitors to the Gardens, and the 2011 program includes a total of 23 concerts. It should also be noted that British rock legend Joe Cocker will perform on the Open Air Stage in Tivoli on 2 August.
The Tivoli Festival
The Tivoli Festival is the name of Tivoli’s ambitious classical concert program which runs from May to September. Among the 2011 season’s top classical performers are tenor Jonas Kaufmann, whose performance takes place on 1 August, and soprano Renée Fleming, who will perform at the Concert Hall in connection with Tivoli’s birthday on 15 August.
Petzi’s World is open
Petzi’s World with its more than 40 activities for children has undergone a number of improvements this year, enabling the children and their relatives to seek shade on hot days. Petzi’s World is based on the world-famous stories about Petzi (Rasmus Klump).
Tivoli’s Pantomime Theatre
In 2011, last year’s successful ballet, Catching the Bolero, and one of the popular H.C. Andersen pantomimes with production designs by H. M. Queen Margrethe II will re-premiere at the Pantomime Theatre.
In addition to that, there will be the performances featuring Pierrot, Harlequin and Columbine.
New NIMB Grill
The Nimb Grill & Bar will open in the former dairy at NIMB in 2011,
offering steak and seafood from the grill with traditional, optional garnish and wine. The Nimb Hotel has been extended and now has 14 rooms.
Free admission for children – reduced prices for adults
As something quite new, admission to the Gardens will be free for children under 8 years of age, and at the same time Tivoli reduces the admission fee for adults outside the school summer holidays.
The new child-friendly prices will also affect the Multi-ride ticket. For a long time, Tivoli has wanted to abandon the principle of age differentiation as the visitors’ choice of rides is not necessarily age-related. Accordingly, in 2011 the price of a Multi-ride ticket will be DKK 195 for everyone, regardless of age. For visitors who want to try a few rides only, ride tickets will still be available at DKK 25 per ticket. Admission to Petzi’s World, the Pantomime Theatre and the entertainment on the Open Air Stage remains free. In addition, visitors are invited to bring their own picnic and enjoy it on the lawns in front of the Open Air Stage and the Pantomime Theatre.
