Tokyo Disney Parks release attendance numbers for first half FY 2011

URAYASU, CHIBA—Tokyo Disney Resort® announced that the total combined attendance at Tokyo Disneyland® Park and Tokyo DisneySea® Park during the first half of this fiscal year (April 1 to September 30, 2011) amounted to 10,739,000 persons (2,215,000 fewer persons or 82.9%of the attendance figure for the same period last year).

The first half of the fiscal year saw the debut of the new nighttime spectacular “Fantasmic!” at Tokyo DisneySea on April 28, as well as summer programs using water at both Parks from July 8 through August 31 and the start of the Tokyo DisneySea 10th Anniversary event, “Be Magical!” on September 4. “These and other special events were very effective in generating attendance,” says the report.

As a result, despite the consequences of the Great East Japan Earthquake, attendance over the first half gradually recovered, especially in the second quarter when various special events and new programs were implemented and consumer confidence began to return. “These factors helped make the second quarter attendance our highest ever,” says the report.

In the second half of the fiscal year, guests will be able to continue enjoying special events at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea such as Halloween and Christmas, as well as the Tokyo DisneySea 10th Anniversary event, which, states the report, has been well-received thus far.
