Utopia Entertainment Brings Family Fun to New Years Eve at Great Park

Irvine, CA, USA — On January 1, 2012, Utopia was dancing through the decades at Great Park’s Inaugural New Year’s Event, the Great Night!

Approximately 10,000 people attended the Orange County Great Park’s “Great Night” event on December 31, 2011. The event was specifically designed to give people a safe and family friendly environment to celebrate New Year’s Eve. With a theme of “Through the Decades,” attendees were transported through different eras by way of interesting exhibits and activities for the whole family. Parents were given the opportunity to countdown with their children at 9pm, based on the east coast midnight strike, and still get them to bed with time to celebrate at midnight here on the west coast.

Utopia was honored to work side by side with the Great Park’s staff for its fourth consecutive year. Together, the teams brought the decades to life by transforming Hangar 244 into a 1970s disco lounge, creating photos opportunities from the decades, to painting the cheveron with vintage cars from all ages. Wandering around, guests could also find ample of kids activities from carnival games, to arts and crafts, to good ol’ fashion musical chairs; the Great Night had it all. But the true show stopper of the night was the entertainment. Popular OC Community Groups came out to perform as well as the local cover band Southland Mega Groove. As the clock struck 9 PM the band began the count down and the night lit up with a literal “bang” of theatrical pyrotechnics and confetti announcing the arrival of the New Year.

In addition to exciting entertainment, the event also played host to educational venues that support the history and the original roots of the park, including milestone banners showing the park’s history, a vintage piano, and a scavenger hunt leading children to important historical spots, highlighting both its agricultural and military past.

“I cannot express how thrilled I am with the outcome of this event,” said Daniel Burzlaff, Utopia Entertainment President. “Teaming up with the Great Park staff is always easy, fun, and motivates us all to bring our A games. The success of the event was evident when you look at our guests and hear their compliments.
