VIDEO: Opening Ceremony, London 2012 Paralympic Games

London, UK — Designed by Artistic Directors Jenny Sealey and Bradley Hemmings, the Opening Ceremony took place inside the Olympic Stadium on Wed, August 29.  62,000 fans filled the stadiums seats, enjoying the festivities.  Kickstarted by astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, and officiated by Queen Elizabeth, the Ceremony featured a cast of over 3,000 volunteers, many disabled.

The Paralympic Games plays host to over 4,200 athletes with various disabilities. More than 2.4 million tickets have been sold to the numerous athletic events over its ten day span. The Opening Ceremony, which was not broadcast in the United States, is presented here in its entirety.
