Nov 17, 2014 Joe Kleiman News, Theme Parks Comments Off on Weber Group Looks Forward to Second Successful Year Partnering with New Kentucky Kingdom
Orlando, FL, USA (November 18, 2014) — “Being a part of bringing guests back to Kentucky Kingdom is a labor of love for our company,” says Donny Weber, Vice President, Weber Group. The company, based in Metro Louisville, KY USA, is open for business in booth #452 at the IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando Nov 18-21.
The region’s largest family amusement and water park, Kentucky Kingdom, reopened in May 2014 under the auspices of the original developer Ed Hart. In its first season back, the park hosted 600,000 people including 117,000 season pass holders. The $43 million transformation included an additional 20 new rides and attractions and a major expansion of Hurricane Bay Water Park resulting in a combination theme park and water park featuring over 54 thrilling rides and attractions.
In 2015, the park will introduce another $30-million worth of rides including T3 (suspended looping roller coaster), Raging Rapids River Ride, The Enterprise, CYCLOS (Zamperla midi Discovery 360) and SkyCatcher (an ARM Vertigo /130’ swing ride).
Weber Group provided extensive architectural and construction services including renovating buildings, comfort centers, and operations facilities as well as building new buildings in the Water Park area. Weber Group has a long history with this park – several directors of the company were on staff at Kentucky Kingdom under Hart’s leadership, both Tom and Donny Weber as Directors of Design and Construction and Penny Peavler as Personnel Director. The firm’s operations experience from being part of the Kentucky Kingdom team means they fully comprehend the demands their clients’ guests will place on buildings and infrastructure. Further the firm has a unique perspective and understanding of the need to create repeated walk by opportunities to extend guest length of stay and per visitor spending.
