Weber Group’s Newest Projects Include Crayola Experience Orlando and Indianapolis Zoo Orangutan Center

Orlando, FL, USA (Nov 12, 2014) — “Picking up a Crayola crayon and starting to draw is a classic creative beginning. We want to evoke that creative power and simplicity in our role providing design/build services to the new Crayola Experience, opening in summer 2015 at the Florida Mall,” says Donny Weber, Vice President, Weber Group. The company, based in Metro Louisville, KY USA, also recently supplied fabrication and construction services on the new Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center which opened at the Indianapolis Zoo in May. Weber will be open for business in booth #452 at the IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando Nov 18-21.

The World’s Most Colorful Brand Comes to Orlando

The #1 brand loved by moms is opening an all-new family attraction in one of the country’s top tourist destinations: Orlando, Florida. The new location, opening summer 2015 in The Florida Mall, will build upon the success of the recently re-imagined original facility in the brand’s hometown of Easton, Pennsylvania. “It’s an exciting challenge to help translate this iconic and loved brand into an immersive creative experience,” Director of Brand Development for Weber Group Penny Peavler said. The attraction will capture the spirit and heart of the 111-year-old brand while also highlighting cutting-edge technologies inspired by Crayola products.

“This company knows who they are and what they stand for,” Peavler added. “Crayola’s mission is to raise creatively alive children and this attraction does just that – while creating colorful family memories in the process!” Peavler notes that the firm is happy to be working with some long-time industry colleagues on this project: Dan Aylward (General Manager/Crayola Experience) and George Wade (Executive Producer and Project Manager/Bay Laurel Advisors).

Orangutan5-450-450x480Meet the orangutans

Humans and orangutans play together on a Pong-type game – and the orangutans usually win (and receive a treat) at the Indianapolis Zoo’s new Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center. Peavler said, “We enjoyed collaborating with the exhibit designer, Thinc Design, and with orangutan expert Dr. Rob Shumaker, Vice President of Conservation & Life Sciences, Indianapolis Zoo, in creating this pioneering new facility that is both an engaging guest experience and working research center.”

Another unique feature produced by Weber for the Center is the pair of stylized orangutan sculptures flanking the entrance, made to look like Balinese wood carvings. The new facility is home to one of the largest groups of orangutans in any American zoo and devoted to creating a positive future for critically endangered orangutans in the wild.
