WEEKEND VIEWING: The NBA on IPM

With the NBA season well underway, we revisit our 2017 tour of the Golden1 Center in Sacramento, California. Home of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, the new 779,200 square foot LEED-certified arena opened in 2016 in the middle of the city’s Downtown district. Centerpiece to a new shopping and entertainment zone called Downtown Commons (or DOCO), the arena hosts up to 250 events per year, including sporting events, concerts, and conventions.

The 4K central scoreboard and digital displays at the arena are from Panasonic, which has designated the venue as a testing ground for its new technologies. Grass Valley provided the control equipment. VITEC’s IPTV is used for digital signage. Harmon Audio is the exclusive audio system provider.

AV integrator on the building was Pro Media/Ultrasound (now a Panasonic company). Lead architect was AECOM.

Special thanks to Panasonic and the Sacramento Kings for arranging our tour.
