Two New Family Attractions Headed to Wilderness Resort

Jan 13, 2017 Joe Kleiman News, Themed Resorts/Hotels, World markets Comments Off on Two New Family Attractions Headed to Wilderness Resort

Two New Family Attractions Headed to Wilderness Resort

Wilderness Resort in the Wisconsin Dells recently unveiled two new projects for 2017. The resort will be adding a third Room Escape for families with younger children, and it will also be replacing the current Timberland Playhouse with a new and improved Playhouse.

According to the resort’s general Manager, Joe Eck, “Due to the overwhelming popularity of the Wilderness on the Lake’s two current room escapes, resort management has contracted with Illinois-based D.O.A. to create a third teambuilding experience.”

The new room will be designed for families with younger children ages 5-10 and it will also be located at Wilderness on the Lake.  It will feature a family-friendly, bright and colorful circus theme in tribute to the Ringling Bros., who founded ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’ in 1884 in nearby Baraboo. Unlike the Wilderness’s other two room escapes, which are for teams of up to 12 people, this new room will be smaller and will accommodate groups of up to 6 people. The challenge presented will be to find the key needed to locate the missing circus acts and start the Big Top Performance. Children will be encouraged to do most of the investigating while parents help with putting the deciphered riddles and clues into the final order to solve the puzzle. Families will have 30 minutes to complete the experience.

The new room is tentatively set to open in March 2017. Pricing for the new room has yet to be set.

Beginning April 25th, Timberland Playhouse will close for a brief 4 week period so it can be completely dismantled and re-created.

According to Eck, the new play structure will have four stories of fun instead of three, and it will feature six slides, swings, tunnels, an arched bridge and 39 climbs and crawls to satisfy the energy and imagination of guests 12 and under.

Parents of toddlers will also appreciate that the new Timberland Playhouse will feature a separate gated area specifically designed for those four years of age and younger and, because the resort has so many guests with sensory issues, the new Timberland Playhouse will eliminate noisy ball launchers. Instead, it will have lots of climbing and fun activities to explore.

The new Timberland Playhouse is scheduled to open Memorial Day Weekend.

The Wilderness Resort consists of over 600 wooded acres in Wisconsin Dells and is home to Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort, which features 444 guest rooms, 40 Vacation Villas, 76 Frontier Condominiums and 35 cabins. It is also home to Wilderness on the Lake which features 108 luxurious two and three bedroom condominium units overlooking Lake Delton; and Glacier Canyon Lodge, which features 460 upscale condominium units.

Combined, these three properties offer four indoor and four outdoor waterparks that total nearly 500,000 square feet – that’s over 12 football fields of extreme water fun! The Resort is also home to Wild Rock Golf Club; The Woods 9-Hole Executive Course; Dodge ‘Em City; Timberland Playhouse; the OK Corral Lazer Tag Arena; Marshall Training Lazer Maze; The Wild Abyss and Wild Buccaneer indoor 3-D black light mini golf courses; bumper boats; indoor and outdoor go-karts and kiddy-karts; Wisconsin’s first canopy zip line tour; Northern Lights Sky Ropes Course; room escapes and outdoor Jurassic mini golf.
