World’s Largest Aluminum-Domed Waterpark Being Built in Ukraine

Construction of the biggest aluminum-domed indoor waterpark is now underway in Donetsk, Ukraine, paving the way for an exciting new entertainment venue that’s unlike anything Europe has seen before. The 61,000ft² / 5,667m² Aquatoria, slated to become the largest retractable aluminum-domedindoor waterpark in the world, is being built by Canadian company OpenAire, Inc., the world’s premier designer, manufacturer and installer of beautiful, innovative and energy efficient retractable roof enclosures and operable skylights.


Scheduled to open in early 2012, the waterpark is already being hailed as a game-changer for the Donetsk region, which is one of four cities co-hosting Euro 2012. The Aquatoria promises to increase tourism and growth in this traditionally industrial area, creating a unique, appealing destination for locals and international visitors alike.The free-standing dome, made with OpenAire’s exclusive, maintenance-free aluminumtruss structure, will be 26m / 86’ high with a diameter of 85m / 278’, and will feature a unique retractable design that slides open in a smooth rotating motion, opening up to 50% of the structure to sunlight and fresh air.
