ADG Mountain Coaster Under Development for Colorado’s Purgatory Resort

Aquatic Development Group announces that an ADG Mountain Coaster is under development at Purgatory Resort in Durango, CO. This is ADG’s second mountain coaster project in Colorado to be undertaken this year.

Purgatory’s new “Inferno Mountain Coaster” will feature over 4,000 feet of track with nine switchbacks, one 360-degree loop, and multiple zig-zags and dips over the course of a 300 ft vertical descent. As with all of ADG’s Mountain coasters, the ride will be open in both winter and summer giving riders an adrenaline rush year-round.

Purgatory Resort also features an Alpine Slide and the two rides will run side-by-side.  While both rides offer an exhilarating downhill experience, the coaster is different in that riders careen down on an elevated steel track in a two-person seat-belted cart that is directly attached to the rails. Like the slide, coaster riders are able to control the speed of their individual carts which can reach top speeds of up to almost 30 miles per hour.

“We chose ADG to build our coaster because we’ve seen the success they have had at ski resorts nationwide. We’re excited for our guests to experience this thrilling attraction and expect it to be a great addition to our resort,” said Colin McBeath, General Manager at Purgatory Resort.

The Inferno Mountain Coaster is scheduled to open at Purgatory in 2018.

Also under construction by ADG in Colorado is the Copper Mountain Coaster in Frisco, CO which is scheduled to be open late 2017 in time for the winter ski season. The second longest coaster to date in North America, Copper’s coaster will feature over 5,800 ft of track.
