Black Widow Invades Kennywood’s 115th Year on May 17

West Mifflin, PA, USA /PRWEB/ — With the mild winter & spring weather giving everyone early thoughts of summertime, the anticipation of Kennywood’s 115th opening day is greater than ever! A wicked new ride, fantastic entertainment, and perennial Kennywood favorites are all reasons to celebrate.

Final preparations and testing are underway for an anticipated May 17 opening of Kennywood’s newest thrill, Black Widow.  This dynamic experience starts with 40 riders seated on a circular platform that rotates counterclockwise. As it spins, a pendulum arm begins to swing back and forth taking riders up to 146 feet in the air, traveling at 68 miles per hour.

“Black Widow is the perfect addition to our collection of rides,” explains Kennywood General Manager Jerome Gibas. “When you mix in all our classic rides and new shows, Kennywood is the perfect experience for the entire family.”

This season features a return to energetic stage shows. The entertainment starts with Steel City Rhythm, a one of a kind rhythm show featuring everything from tap dancing to trash can percussion.

Up next, “a cappella” hits the stage in Vocal Acceleration. Combining beat boxing, vocal percussion and smooth harmonies, Vocal Acceleration is sure to be a crowd favorite.

Finally, the fun takes to the midways with Gimme a Beat. Look for these hypnotic tempos working their Steel City Rhythms magic wherever the crowds gather.
