Camelback Resort in the Poconos announces June 11 reopening

Located 90 minutes from New York City and two hours from Philadelphia, the 166-acre Camelback Resort plans to re-open its mountain modern-designed hotel, Camelback Lodge in the Pocono Mountains on Thursday, June 11, with modified services after its recent hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Lodge accommodations include comfortable, furnished single room to three-bedroom suites with 16 layouts – many perfect for multi-generational vacations with full kitchens, fireplaces, balconies and spacious lofts. To provide guests with plenty of space, the lodge will re-open only 160 guest suites – 35% capacity – and will limit guests on all adventure rides to ensure physical distancing.

The resort will re-open two of its most popular mountain adventures on the same date – Pennsylvania’s only mountain coaster, Appalachian Express Mountain Coaster with a 4,500-foot steel track with cars that zoom down the steep slopes of Camelback Mountain and Double Barrel 1,000-foot Ziplines, where families can play all day – both outdoor adventures are situated in beautiful natural settings.

There’s something fun and exciting for everyone at Camelback Resort, and the re-opening of the Lodge’s Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark is a favorite destination. Voted USA Today’s #1 Indoor Waterpark with North America’s largest Texlon transparent roof, it has 13 innovative water slides including tube, body, mat, bowl, aqua launch and kiddie slides. Also in the Lodge other family dry adventures feature a rock climbing wall, Himalayan expedition-themed overhead ropes course, a bumper car course and more. To add to the indoor entertainment, Arcadia Adventures features activities such as 7D Dark Ride, climbing adventures, 4D Chaos Jump VR experience, Game of Stones Escape Room, Lasertron Laser Tag and much more, as well as over 100 video games at Arcadia Mega Arcade.

Camelback Lodge offers many distancing dining options with delicious, varied foods to ensure everyone is deliciously satisfied, including family-friendly Hemispheres, Colonial Commons, Graffiti Pizza, Flyboys and Neptunes, which will offer a marketplace for grab-and-go snacks and groceries.

After the re-opening of Camelback Lodge, Appalachian Express Mountain Coaster and the Double Barrel 1,000-foot Ziplines, other mountain adventures are on track to open later in the month and Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark soon after that. These include:

**Mountain Segway Tour, which takes adventurers through the forest on off-road tours complete with magnificent Pocono Mountain views.

**4,000-foot Zip-Flyer experience, Pennsylvania’s longest zipline, which can be a “twin” activity with one person flying down the mountain right next to someone else.

**TreeTops Adventure Course has fun-lovers climbing, zipping and swinging as they conquer aerial obstacles.

**Kids Tree Tops Little Explorer Course offers the younger set challenges such as moving bridges along the kids’ zipline.

**Pocono Pipeline is a two-for-one mountain slide adventure – a scenic chairlift up Camelback Mountain, and then the zooming Alpine Slide takes riders down a dual 2,800-foot long track where they can control their own speed up to 25 miles per hour.

**Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark plans to re-open later in the summer through Labor Day weekend.

Health and Safety

To ensure the safety of guests and employees, all guests will be greeted with a wellness screening to include a temperature check with a no-touch infrared thermometer and asked to wear a mask and comply with six-foot physical distancing policies. A small sanitizing kit containing disinfectant spray bottles and/or wipes will be provided in each guest room, and hand sanitizing stations are placed throughout the resort. Enhanced sanitation measures utilizing hospital-grade disinfectants have been deployed throughout the resort. For more details, guests can visit www.camelbackresort.com/safe.
