Dragons Among Initial Program Offerings for EON Idome

Irvine, CA, USA – EON Reality Inc., a world leader in Virtual Reality based knowledge transfer for industry, education, and edutainment, launched in October 2015 the first public facing EON Idome in Laval, France in conjunction with the celebration of its first anniversary. The EON Idome is a twenty-four person interactive, immersive theatre designed to showcase interactive edutainment content.

Virtual Reality is often associated with headsets and individual experiences. EON Reality’s Idome seeks to turn VR into a social, collaborative, and immersive experience where every participant can interact. The EON Idome combines compelling 3D visuals with engaging interactive VR experiences. See how the EON Idome was setup in a timelapse video.

In total, over a thousand people will have seen the initial public showings in which users will see three different experiences: Oceans Alive Dolphin Adventure, Dragons: Real Myths and Unreal Creatures, and Space Police. Oceans Alive Dolphin Adventure takes guests under the ocean where they help a lost dolphin reunite with her pod. Dragons follows the tale of a dreamer and a scholar as they trace tales of dragons throughout history. Space Police follows an intergalactic police squad as they travel through outer space.

The EON Idome lets twenty-four people interact at once with a full field-of-view 3D experience.

“The EON Idome is a great addition to what we’ve already accomplished in Laval, France,” said Yann Froger, Managing Director of EON Reality SAS. “Through our Entrepreneur School, our development facilities, and now the Idome, we’re making a big impact locally and we’re pioneering new uses of Virtual Reality that will help spark imagination around the world.”

The EON Idome offers twenty-four guests a seamless full field-of-view 3D experience on a curved twenty-one foot tall screen and their seats rumble along with the action. Each guest participates in the experience with his or her own continuously tracked personal handheld IR-based device. With the EON Idome, guests don’t just watch … they actively participate.

With EON Experience VR and EON Reality’s mobile Virtual and Augmented Reality solutions, guests can continue their experience at home and share the fun with their parents, classmates, or colleagues. EON Reality’s phone-to-dome VR and AR platform allows for content to scale from a mobile phone all the way to the large immersive EON Idome.

“We really want to awaken the curiosity for learning in children and get them excited about the possibilities that lie ahead,” said Dan Lejerskar, Chairman of EON Reality. “The EON Idome provides a Virtual Reality platform that engages participants through interactive and immersive content. Then, once the experience is over, guests can take it home on their mobile phones or tablets. We want to inspire the next generation of achievers, whether marine biologists, astronauts, or historians.”
