Expo 2025 Osaka update: BIE approves registration while Universal Studios Japan agrees to collaborate

On December 1, 2020, the General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), which met online, approved the Japan’s Registration Dossier concerning the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

Now that approval has been given, the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition will accelerate the preparation to host the Expo in 2025, including inviting participating countries and international organizations to construct pavilions at the Expo venue and hold exhibitions there.

Separately, Universal Studios Japan has signed a basic agreement with the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition to start consideration about possible collaborations towards the 2025 World Exposition’s success, which would also help the local region to thrive further.

J.L. Bonnier, CEO of Universal Studios Japan, says: “The impact that a globally spotlighted event such as Expo 2025 provides to our local region would be enormous and I cannot wait to see the positive effects that could bring. We always have recognized how important it is to support our community to further thrive and we see this agreement as a great opportunity for us to continue to contribute to society.”
