Apr 20, 2016 Joe Kleiman Attractions, News, Technology & Media Comments Off on FlyOver America Takes Flight Inside Mall of America
Minneapolis, MN, USA (April 19, 2016) — FlyOver America – the $20 million fully-immersive virtual flight attraction that takes guests on an aerial voyage of the nation’s most popular landmarks – is now open at Mall of America®.
During the 10-minute “flight”, guests will feel like they are truly floating above the landscape as they experience a birds-eye view of varied locations stretching from Alaska to Hawaii to Maine. Special effects including wind, mist and scents add to the immersive nature of the attraction. Riders are suspended in the air with feet dangling 10 to 40 feet above the ground and transported in a giant half-spherical dome screen.
“The reception of FlyOver America has been incredible,” said Stephen Geddes, FlyOver America co-founder. “There’s nothing quite like seeing those who haven’t had the opportunity to travel or see different parts of the USA get off the ride with a feeling of awe.”
FlyOver America is located in the southwest corner of Nickelodeon Universe® at Mall of America, home to more than 520 world-class shops and attractions. Although there are no age restrictions to ride the attraction, all guests must by 40″ or taller. Admission is separate from Nickelodeon Universe attraction passes, with tickets for adults (ages 13 years and above) available for $16.95 and children (40″ to 12 years) for $12.95. For more information, please visit: www.flyover-america.com.
“FlyOver America is an attraction for guests of all ages,” said Andrew Strang, FlyOver America co-founder. “This experience is unlike any other flight simulation experience.”
FlyOver America was filmed by a talented team of filmmakers, technicians and creative consultants. The footage was captured using a state-of–the-art 6k resolution camera mounted on the front of a helicopter. The FlyOver America film crew worked for over a year filming at locations all over the country, including various spots in Minnesota such as Lake Calhoun and Red Wing.
