Irma Update 9/7 11:00 pm EDT

Hurricane Irma is currently slated to skirt the Northern coast of Cuba and the Southern Bahamas islands between Friday and Saturday, making landfall in the vicinity of Miami Sunday afternoon. Please see the previous update for the status of South Florida animal attractions.

Atlantis Bahamas has released the following update: “Our 50,000+ marine animals and mammals are safely sheltered in the underwater habitats at Atlantis, where they will be shielded from the anticipated wind intensity of Hurricane Irma. We would like to thank our amazing and brave team of marine biologists and veterinarians who will be on property throughout the storm conducting around-the-clock monitoring of our life support systems.”

CENTRAL FLORIDA ATTRACTIONS:

Walt Disney World: Night of Joy on Sept 9 and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on Sept 10 have been canceled. Blizzard Beach is closed for the weekend, though Typhoon Lagoon remains open. Fort Wilderness Campground will close Sept 9.

Universal Orlando Resort: Parks, CityWalk, and hotel operations remain normal at this time.

LEGOLAND Florida: Operations remain normal at this time.

Orlando Eye: The Eye will be closed on Sept 9. Operations will resume once the storm has passed.

SeaWorld Orlando/Aquatica/Discovery Cove: Operations remain normal at this time.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay: Guy Harvey Weekend has been rescheduled for December 16 and 17. Otherwise, operations remain normal at this time.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex: Will be closed from September 8-12.

Central Florida attractions will continue to monitor the situation and make changes accordingly.
