Irma Update 9/8 10:00 am EDT

Hurricane Irma is currently 500 miles SE of Miami moving WNW at 16 mph and has been downgraded to a category 4 with maximum sustained winds of 155 mph. Hurricane force winds are expected to hit the Keys and South Florida by Saturday night. All major attractions in that region are closed for the duration of the storm and most zoological attractions will have a skeleton staff remain on premises during the storm to oversee collections.

CENTRAL FLORIDA ATTRACTIONS:

Walt Disney World: Night of Joy on Sept 9 and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on Sept 10 have been canceled. Blizzard Beach is closed for the weekend, though Typhoon Lagoon remains open. Fort Wilderness Campground will close Sept 9.

Universal Orlando Resort: Parks, CityWalk, and hotel operations remain normal at this time.

LEGOLAND Florida: Operations remain normal at this time.

Orlando Eye: The Eye will be closed on Sept 9. Operations will resume once the storm has passed.

SeaWorld Orlando/Aquatica/Discovery Cove: SeaWorld Orlando will close by 5 pm EDT on Saturday and will remain closed on Sunday and Monday. Aquatica Orlando will be closed Saturday – Monday. Discovery Cove will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay: Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will close by 5 pm EDT on Saturday and will remain closed on Sunday and Monday. Adventure Island will be closed Saturday – Monday.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex: Will be closed from September 8-12.

Central Florida attractions will continue to monitor the situation and make changes accordingly.
