Irma Update 9/7 7:00 pm EDT

Compiled by Joe Kleiman, InPark News Editor

Atlantis Bahamas reports that the Eye of the Hurricane will hit far south of the resort and that guests and animals are secure. Baha Mar has been evacuated.

Following animal facilities are closed and their infrastructure and animal collections have been secured to the best extent possible: Theater of the Sea, Dolphin Research Center, Zoo Miami, Jungle Island, Miami Seaquarium, Frost Museum of Science, Brevard Zoo. Due to the unpredictable nature of hurricanes, with one exception, zoo and aquarium animals have not been relocated, out of concern of placing animals in a more dangerous situation should the path veer.

The one exception is Dolphin Discovery, located on Duck Key, which successfully transported its five dolphins to SeaWorld Orlando, accompanied by four trainers.
