Kalahari Resorts Opens 2,200 Square Foot Free-Roaming VR Arenas

Kalahari Resorts and Conventions is now home to “The Arena” — a one-of-a-kind, interactive, virtual reality experience that is more than just a video game. The installation of The Arena in the Wisconsin Dells and Pocono Mountains resorts marks only the second and third locations in the country to offer the exclusive attraction.

“The Arena” is the only free-roam, warehouse-scale, multiplayer virtual reality gaming experience currently on the market. Multiplayer adventures allow up to six people to simultaneously explore, conquer and challenge one another for high scores and skill evaluations, all tracking in real time. The attraction spans more than 2,200 square feet and is now open at both the Wisconsin Dells and Pocono Mountains resort locations.

“Kalahari continuously seeks the best and newest technologies to raise the bar for guest experiences,” said Cary Brandt, corporate creative director, entertainment, Kalahari Resorts. “The Arena is truly a unique virtual reality attraction that is the perfect addition to our all-under-one-roof offerings for groups.”

Participants in The Arena are transported into a digital realm, take on an entirely new identity and experience ever-changing surroundings in a computer-generated landscape.

All participants must be at least 13 years old to play. The Arena will feature two 15-minute games to choose from, including:

Zombie Survival is an intense undead-themed experience in which players are caught in a zombie outbreak and need to destroy the undead crowds while they wait for help to arrive. Players are trapped, bunkered in a fort, amidst the chaos brought on by a zombie outbreak. A rescue team is on its way, but the players must defend the fort until help arrives. The team must fend off a wave of zombies and rebuild barriers to protect themselves. Teams switch among a range of futuristic weapons and virtual battle tools to help with survival. Participants must be 13 years or older to play.

Engineerium is a family-friendly puzzle game and walking adventure set on a fantastical ancient alien world that lets players walk up and down ramps and twisty, curvy walls, defying gravity. Players are suspended above an ocean, where gravity does not function as expected. Teams must walk among flying whales and parrot rays and connect the platforms to progress through the puzzle. Colorful characters and bright, friendly music accompany participants on the journey. Participants must be 13 years or older to play.

The attraction is open to the general public, as well as resort guests for $25. Participants must be 13 years or older to play and can book their time slot online.
