Emerson awards million dollar gift to The Magic House children’s museum

The Magic House, St. Louis Children’s Museum has received a $1 million contribution from Emerson, the global technology and engineering company headquartered in St. Louis, to support the development and operation of the Museum’s new STEAM Center, including offering free educational programming for children in need.

Located on the lower level of The Magic House, the STEAM Center will offer the opportunity to experiment, create, calculate, invent and make important discoveries as visitors participate in a variety of activities focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.  The STEAM Center will include a brand-new Science Lab, created with additional support from Spire, the technology-infused Future Play exhibit, the Make-It Workshop, the Art Studio and an extended Math Path.

The STEAM Center will open to the public on March 14, which is also Pi Day and Albert Einstein’s 140th birthday.  To commemorate this exciting day, Museum admission will be discounted to $3.14.

“We are honored to have Emerson’s continued support for our educational mission,” said Beth Fitzgerald, President of The Magic House. “They share our commitment to STEAM education and their exceptional support will impact children for generations.”

Emerson’s gift is in conjunction with the Museum’s Reimagining Our Future $15 million comprehensive campaign to update and improve The Magic House’s building, grounds and exhibits, as well as to increase community outreach and strengthen financial sustainability. Recently, The Magic House opened the public phase of the campaign, inviting visitors, and the St. Louis community, to become a part of the Museum’s future with naming opportunities around The Magic House.  To find out more about the Reimagining Our Future campaign or to make a tax-deductible donation visit magichouse.org/campaign or call the Museum at (314) 288-2516.
