Boca Raton, FL, USA (June 13, 2015) — Mummies of the World’s collection of mummies and artifacts made their grand arrival into Orlando under special security detail for the upcoming blockbuster exhibition at Orlando Science Center (OSC). Expected to be the cultural event of the season in the Central Florida region, the exhibition debuts today and will be on display through fall 2015.
“For 60 years, Orlando Science Center has been dedicated to make science come to life for visitors of all ages and immerse them in the wonders of the natural world. This exhibition will do just that as these mummies provide a wealth of scientific, anthropological, archaeological, anatomical, medical and historical information,” said Michel Champagne, Incoming Board Chair, Orlando Science Center & Vice President and General Manager of Bright House Networks. “Mummies of the World will show the natural world in a new way, enlightening guests on the natural processes that have preserved both humans and animals for future generations, allowing us to learn not only how these individuals died but also how they lived.”
Upon arrival, the security detail and producer of the exhibition signed over this invaluable display of mummies and artifacts for OSC’s safe-keeping. Marcus Corwin, president and CEO of American Exhibitions, Inc. and producer of Mummies of the World, Michel Champagne, incoming board chair for OSC as well as Vice President and General Manager of Bright House Networks, and Orlando City Commissioner Robert Stuart spoke during a brief presentation as the mummies were unloaded into the venue. Following the ceremonious arrival, curators and exhibition staff worked day and night on installation of the exhibition.
Mummies of the World presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience real mummies, real science, real people with over 1.4 million visitors experiencing the exhibition to date. The presentation in Orlando will mark the twelfth stop on the exhibition’s exclusive tour of the United States.
