Museo del Holocausto, Guatemala Nominated for Leading Culture Destinations Award

The Museum of the Holocaust in Guatemala (Museo del Holocausto, Guatemala) is pleased to announce its nomination by The Leading Culture Destinations (LCD) Awards in the category of “Best New Museum of the Year – South / Central America.” The only museum of its kind in Central America features “Holocaust By Bullets,” an exhibit based on the work of Father Patrick Desbois, president and founder of Yahad-In Unum, an anti-genocide organization that has documented WW II era mass murders of Jews and Roma in the former Soviet Union.  The museum also hosts an art exhibit about violence against women based on Yahad-In Unum’s field of research. The Museum of the Holocaust in Guatemala is one of only two museums to make the LCD nomination short list for its category.

Known as “the Oscars for museums,” The LCD Awards recognize and celebrate a new breed of museums, galleries and cultural institutions worldwide. The organization’s goal is to shine a light on the most exceptional contributions to cultural life that museums and similar institutions have to offer, and to showcase emerging destinations of equal significance. This year, LCD’s fourth annual awards ceremony will take place on Friday, September 29th, 2017 in London at The Trafalgar St. James hotel.
